The Unique Message of Christianity

Rev Richard Long, Associate Pastor Congregational Care, will be our CUC class speaker this Sunday. His message is entitled “The Unique Message of Christianity” using the Scriptures: 1Timothy 1:12-17; Luke 15:1-10. Richard looks forward to being with us as we look forward to having him!

Memorial Service

Jim McCormick writes that on May 1 he will be moving to an independent living apartment more suitable for his new living situation. Thank You and Update

Louise Booysen wants to thank CUC class members for condolence cards from CUC after the loss of her sister and to let you know that Peter Oliver is safely back on his farm in France after their huge family wedding gathering in the UK. He is still so committed to his work on the RUMC History book.

CUC Social Events!

 May CUC Wednesday Night Dinner – May 15th we will have a Dinner on the Patio at Crabapple Tavern – start time 5:00pm; order off the menu and enjoy the fellowship of CUC.

Also, we are going to be surveying class members about options the Committee has investigated for December. This information will be available later in April. 

Thank you to all the first time volunteers to host our small group dinners! It was wonderful to have too many host volunteers, so thank you to all who volunteered. We drew names for our groups and you should soon be contacted by your hosts for your dinner. We hope everyone has a wonderful time.

Jacob’s Reaction to His Birthday Card from CUC:

Thank you all so much for the wonderful card!! It really just made my day today to come in and see so many kind words and messages from you all! I feel truly blessed to be able to work in a place that makes you feel both welcomed and appreciated on a daily basis. Please pass along my gratitude to the whole CUC SS Class! What a blessing it is to be able to work in a place surrounded with so much care and generosity!

Jacob’s RUMC Hospitality Updates

Wednesday Night Supper May 1, 2024 (Celebrate Chef Leo 16 years at RUMC!!)  

 This week we will celebrate a “Sweet 16” for Leo Miller, as he will be retiring from RUMC at the end of May after 16 years of Service here at the church! Please come out and celebrate Leo with us, as we all sing him Happy Birthday one last time on Wednesday Night! We will have a basket out for cards if you would like to thank Leo for his years of dedicated service to RUMC. We are super sad to see him retire, but excited to get the chance to celebrate all he has contributed to RUMC over the years!

We are looking forward to seeing you at our Wednesday Night Supper this coming Wednesday, May 1, with a Jamaican inspired menu in honor of Leo’s last Wednesday Night Supper here at RUMC. Jerk Chicken and/or Chargrilled Chicken w/ Pineapple Salsa, Jamaican Rice and Peas, Roasted Plantains, Grilled FlatBread, Featured Salad Bar, Black Bean Soup, Banana Chocolate Walnut Cake and Birthday Cake for Leo. 5:00 pm – 6:45 pm. You can order ahead online at the link below or you can just arrive during serving hours and enjoy! We can also box up family meals “to go”, but please order these by Tuesday Night if possible so that we know how many to plan for.  Pick up Monday-Thursday from 9:00am – 3:00 pm., or just stop by the kitchen during those hours to pick up any frozen meals. Last Wednesday Night Supper!

If you haven’t made it to a Wednesday Night Supper this year, you’ve been missing out on a great opportunity to get some amazing food, fun and fellowship. There’s still time. Our last WNS of the season will be May 8 from 5-7pm with a “Cookout on the Commons!”

Men’s Dinner

RUMC Men’s Dinner- It was a great event last year with around 240 men in attendance. This year, our goal is 280. That is the capacity of the Fellowship Hall! It will be Thursday, May 16 from 6:30-8:30pm. Dinner begins at 6:30 with a HUGE buffet with 6 different kinds of meat and CANDIED BACON! Our program begins at 7pm with music by Mark Miller and guest speakers Matt McConnell and Nathan Mirabella. You can reserve a table for 8 people for $200 or individual general admission tickets for $25. Find tickets and more info at www.rumc.com/mensdinner. Men’s Breakfast will not happen in May. We are hosting the Men’s Dinner instead.)
