News from Worship Arts

After an extensive search and a very thorough vetting process, the Worship Arts Director Search Committee has selected Angela Lepkofker to be the new Director of Worship Arts replacing Dr. Michael Cromwell. The committee, our clergy and our Sanctuary Choir felt that the gifts and graces that Angela possesses best fit the needs of the Worship Arts program.  Angela is a former member of the Juilliard Opera Center and excels in concert repertoire. She was Adjunct Professor of Voice at Nyack College in NY and at The King’s College in NY, Professor of Music at Free Will Baptist College in Nashville, and taught English Diction at the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and Mannes School of Music. Angela has been Director of Music at several churches including Emmanuel Faith Community Church in CA; Grace Church in NJ; Southside Baptist in Nashville, TN; Crestview United Methodist Church in Austin, TX; and New Hope Baptist in Mauldin, SC.  Angela is married to Todd and they have two children, Charlton who is 23 and Ryun who is 15.  Please keep this family in your prayers as Angela “officially” steps into her permanent role.

Wednesday Night Classes

Wednesday Night Classes kicked off 4 NEW classes this past Wednesday. This time, classes vary in length. Two of them will “close” to new members after week 2. And one of them REQUIRES registration. All classes are 6:30-7:30 unless otherwise specified: Celebration of Discipline- This is a 12-week study on the Spiritual Disciplines and the book by Richard Foster. We will look at a different discipline each week. This class is taught by RUMC clergy and other RUMC teachers and will be in the Trinity Cafe. Epic of Eden: Isaiah– Bruce Purvis will be leading this study on the book of Isaiah and the popular book by Sandra Richter. It lasts 10 weeks and will be in Room B246/248. It will close to new members after week 2.All About Joy: Secrets From Philippians- This study was written by and will be taught by our own, Debbie Goodwin. She has led it previously as a “Women’s Only” Bible Study. It was so popular that we asked her to do it in a 5-week class for WNS for everyone. It will be in room B239. Disciple Bible Study- Fast Track- Old Testament– This 12-week condensed version of the traditional Disciple Bible Study offers a great look at the entire Old Testament in only 12 weeks instead of the usual 26 weeks. It lasts a little longer and requires registration. It will be held in the Dining Room (across from the Fellowship Hall) and will go from 6:30-8pm. Mark Kramer will be leading this class. To register or for more info- https://www.rumc.com/widgets/event-details/?id=26771
