Bethlehem Preparations

The Bethlehem team could use help with set up and take down for Bethlehem, Sunday Nov 30 – 12- 4 p.m., Monday Dec 1 – 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and Sunday Dec 7 – 12- 4 p.m. If you would like to help you might bring with you a Hammer, Staple gun, Electric drill and various bits. This is a huge role and we could not have this production with out the man power you gentleman are providing. Please email Lorin Sullivan – lsullivan@rumc.com and let her know if you’re available to help with the important ministry effort of set up and take down with Bethlehem. They are grateful for your help and will also provide food, drink, and direction. Thanks so much for the consideration and all the ways that you support RUMC in the life of the church.

Fall Great Day Of Service

This Sunday 1:00-4:00 is the day for extra service for the church and community. If you are participating come dressed for your activity and stay for lunch after church.

Operation Christmas Child

A message from Lynn Roberts:
On Sunday September 28 I will have the Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes to hand out and will have them weekly until our turn-in date Nov 16. You may bring in your filled shoebox at any time before that, just so we can fill 100 by that date. If you prefer to make your donation online to Samaritans Purse you can do that and it is very easy, and we count that towards our 100. You may go online to pay for the postage and get your label and find full directions. I will have directions on Sept 28.
The shoeboxes are a great project with grandchildren, or dedicate a filled box to each of your children and grandchildren to remind them of those who will receive only this gift at Christmas. They are also given out at other time during disasters, to help spread the word of Jesus Christ and His love for us.
The church is going to also do this project in the form of a packing party after a Wednesday Night Out dinner in October. You may want to participate in this project too.
We thank God for all the gifts He shares so abundantly with us.

Malone Dodson Golf Tournament

Did you know that the only way the RUMC Foundation administrative cost, including Bevin’s compensation, is from the proceeds of the annual Malone Dodson Golf Tournament? CUC needs to show support for this fun event by golfers golfing, getting raffle and door prizes from merchants you frequent, by providing a donation, or being a sponsor for this event. Also, as an incentive to get more RUMC members to play, the registration cost of $200 per person is being discounted by $25 for RUMC members signing up and paying by September 1. Plus, if you get a foursome of all RUMC players by September 1, there is an additional $25 per player discount in the foursome–that’s a savings of $200 per foursome! Jack Stadler has a foursome and it would be nice to have at least two more foursomes. So put October 13th, Columbus Day, on your calendar, register early, and be prepared for a day of fun, fellowship, and good food. For further information contact George Waite or Jack Stadler

CUC works with SHARE Military Initiative

Next monthg CUC will have been providing meals to the SHARE Military Initiative clients for a full year. Fred Brown reports with our September dinner, we will have served over 150 meals. A special thanks to everyone who prepared the meals and those who served them. Saturday, Aug 30, the Braves will have Military Appreciation Night celebrating the US Navy and benefiting Shepherd Center SHARE Military Initiative.

Family Promise

August 31 begins RUMC next host week for Family Promise . Volunteers are needed to setup guest rooms, prepare/serve dinner. Contact Kris Ware, kware@rumc.com if you would like to participate.

Intercultural Opportunity

If anyone is interested in hosting a couple of students from another country for dinner at your home please contact Norma & David Hills who run a language school for international students. Inviting these students to your home is a very interesting experience for both the guests and those who host them.
