Christ the Victor

The CUC speaker for Sunday is Paul Beecham. Paul will be concluding the 24 Hours that Changed the World series with the lesson title of “Christ the Victor”. Paul always has a thought-provoking and spiritually uplifting lesson.

Betty Magaro

Funeral Services for Betty Magaro will be in the Chapel at 2:00 this Friday, April 21.
There will be a reception to meet the family at 1:00.

For the past several years Betty & Frank Magaro have been included on our prayer lists but many CUC members have never met either of them. Here is part of their story. Betty and Frank were each married to their previous spouses for over 50 years. The two couples were close friends. Both of them were caregivers for their respective spouses for several years. After their deaths, Betty and Frank were married and found a new place to worship and fellowship together at RUMC and especially in CUC class. Betty was one of the founding members of CUC’s “Betty Bunch”. Betty had prepared for and was looking forward to teaching a CUC lesson when she had to have heart surgery and subsequently suffered a stroke which has left her wheelchair-bound and speechless for the past 8 or 9 years.

Frank devotedly cared for her in their home, then at Chambrel, and then they went to Manor on the Square for assisted living, where in recent years CUC has celebrated both their 90th birthdays with them. Recently they moved to the Brookdale-Neese Road Assisted Living facility in Woodstock. (756 Neese Road, 30188)

Frank has requested that any memorials given in memory of Betty should be donated to the RUMC Foundation through the CUC Endowment.

Honduras Mission Trip

The Honduras Mission Trip group left on April 20th. They will be gone for one week. CUC members on this mission trip are Gale & Roger Davis, Bill and Sandy Griffin, and Bill Scott, Craig & Katherine Simons.

Here is another opportunity for an evening of food and fellowship at one of our CUC Small Group dinners. The clipboard for signups was passed this Sunday and will be next Sunday also. Believe Ministries Benefit Celebration

Get free tickets from Garlinn Storey to be seated at CUC tables on Thursday, May 4th as CUC plans to support Believe Ministries with our CUC attendance at this event.

This will be An Evening of Music, Magic, Message and Merriment! The 10th Anniversary Believe Ministries Benefit Celebration, 7 PM in the RUMC Fellowship Hall.

The evening will include Christian Illusionist – Greg Davidson, Music, and Singing – with Jane Riley and Greg, A Silent Auction with Big Winners, Coffee and Delicious Desserts.

There will be tables for 8. Tickets are free. Your donation will celebrate 10 amazing years of family and friends supporting the ongoing Christian outreach of Believe Ministries. “Only with your help can we continue to share the promise of Jesus Christ at home and around the world.” Jane and Greg.

CUC Fall Retreat

As many of us are looking forward to the CUC fall retreat November 1,2, and 3 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) at Winshape on the campus of Berry College.

Jim Ehlers is asking that anyone who has not yet signed up and wants to go to let him know by the end of the month. He also needs to know if singles want to share a room. We have 78 people signed up so far. (We do have some flexibility on numbers until July.)

Small Things Support Our Various Mission Outreaches!

Dental supplies for Peru – Haley Schroeder is doing a Senior Capstone Career Project through her school, Woodstock High, based on non-profit organizations. With this project, she has to present work that replicates that of a non-profit worker. Through this project she has decided to focus her non-profit work around a medical mission trip to Peru she will be attending this summer with Roswell United Methodist Church. With this trip, the Medical Missions team wants to collect dental supplies such as floss, small tubes of toothpaste, and

With this trip, the Medical Missions team wants to collect dental supplies such as floss, small tubes of toothpaste, and toothbrushes. In total, the team’s goal is 1200(+) of each item, and all donated supplies will be distributed to the communities in Peru in which they will be serving so they have lots of collecting to do! Their deadline for collecting will be May 15th, as they will need some time to pack and prepare the supplies for the trip. All supplies will be kept at the RUMC campus in the Dod. She will have a box sitting right inside the entrance labeled: Peru Dental Supplies. Johnie and Nancy Wright will be collecting supplies in CUC class and will be happy to get items to the Dod.

Please continue to save the pull tops from soda cans to support the Ronald McDonald House and bring them in to Nancy Wright.

• Lynn Adcock – pray for her as she awaits results of PET scan Monday to determine course of treatment
• Tom Cantrell – suffering from Spinal Stenosis plus Shingles
• Jackie Hubbard – in much pain as she awaits her third knee replacement. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, April 24th

• Peggy Rodway – whose sister June Deer-Williams died unexpectedly.
• Sharon Schnakenberg will be in the hospital early Friday morning to have bone spurs removed from her left shoulder. Home Friday afternoon.
• Ron Fox – brother- in-law of Bev Tatom – on some new medication and is a little better. Still weak but getting stronger every day.They wanted Bev to thank everyone for their prayers and asked for us to please keep them up.Pray for our CUC members and others for safety and success on their Mission Trip to Honduras this week
