When Joy is our Song
CUC is continuing our series for Advent for 2021. Garlinn Story is our teacher this Sunday from the book The Heart that Grew Three Sizes by Matt Rawle. Garlinn’s lesson is entitled “When Joy is our Song”. We look forward to Garlinn’s lesson.

We continue to have class both in the classroom and on Zoom. It is good to be together again face to face, but we still have Zoom for those of CUC who prefer to stay at home or who are away from home! CUC has a scheduled Zoom meeting.
Those attending class via Zoom should be signed into Zoom and admitted no later than 9:40 AM. This will eliminate the terrible feedback issues we experience when late Zoomers enter with their mics unmuted while allowing the tech team to concentrate at getting the various class presentations operable for presentation. Thanks for everyone’s cooperation on this!

- Marlene and Don MacLeod – who both are having multiple health issues. Don was to have placement of a pacemaker on Wednesday.
- Louise Booysin’s cousin Peter Oliver (who Attends CUC regularly via zoom from France) on the death of his brother in South Africa.
- Marth Knight’s sister Ann who has been diagnosed with Covid.
- Nancy Wright’s brother Steve who received a liver transplant this past week and her sister who has major liver and kidney problems

to serve as Welcome Hosts and Sanctuary Hosts each Sunday morning now and
into the New Year.
(Scheduled weekly so there is no requirement for an individual set schedule commitment!)

- 10:00 am – Worship and Communion – In the Chapel
- 4:00 pm – Worship Service – Sanctuary

Welcome Hosts (Greeters) are needed for all 4 services – (Each Volunteer assignment is for about 30 minutes prior to a selected service – then one can attend that service)

CUC President’s Message
On the fourth and last Sunday of Advent the “Angels Candle”, symbolizing peace, is lit. It reminds us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.” In some traditions this fourth candle is called the “Wise Men’s Candle,” remembering the light of the star that guided them in their long journey from the East to see the child in the manger.
And finally, on Christmas Eve, the beautiful white center candle of the Advent wreath is traditionally lit. This candle is called the “Christ Candle” and represents the life of Christ who came into the world, bringing purity and love to all mankind. “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV
A very Merry Christmas to all CUCers, their families, friends and loved ones. We are all so blessed to have each other, our church and clergy, this great nation, the love of Jesus, and this beautiful and special Christmas season.
