Great Expectations

Debbie Goodwin has our lesson Sunday. Her lesson title is “Great Expectations” using the Scripture:

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now, we live with great expectation. I Peter 1:3, NLT

CUC Sunday School Class on Zoom

It is about 18 weeks since CUC has met together as a class. Thank goodness for Zoom !

We had 102 participants last Sunday.
Doug Tatom is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting this coming Sunday.

Just enter that meeting ID when you start Zoom and you will be connected to the CUC Sunday School meeting . Doug normally starts the meeting about 9:15 am on Sundays. This gives you a chance to say Hello, and then the class starts at 9:30 am sharpish!

Due to the limit of 100 participants Doug suggests that you watch the class meeting on one device, such as your tablet, iPad, or computer so that it can be viewed by you and your significant other. This will give everyone a chance to view the class.

Online Attendance Register for all SS Classes

As everyone knows, in the last few months of sheltering in place, Church staff has been reviewing and implementing new programs and procedures to allow for “our new normal” – whatever that may be. A definitive guideline is to remove all paper and printed materials that can pass from person to person in order to negate the transmission of germs.

Effective, August 2, 2020, all Sunday School Classes and Small Groups will be registering

attendance – either Zooming or on-site participation – via online attendance using everyone’s personal cell phone or tablet. Class members will initially go online to: www.rumc.com/connect-card

to register within Ministry Platform. After that, each time you sign-on you will just need to select the event that you are attending to register. If you are attending via Zoom you will do the same to register your attendance to a selected event. At this time, the system will allow you to choose between “Sunday School – 9:30 am” OR “Sunday School – 11:00 am.” When you choose the time that your class normally meets, the system will then automatically connect your attendance to your specific Class.

A Note from CUC president Sandy Griffin

Good Friday to all of you. This will be my last Newsletter Article as the president of CUC. My year has come to an end and what a year it has been. I became president of the class due to the untimely and tragic death of our beloved George Martin. “God’s plan will continue on God’s schedule”, A.W. Tozer. You have learned over the past year and some of you knew this fact already, I am not a Bible scholar nor have I claimed to be. I love the Lord and the Lord loves me and we take each day as it is given. It has been an honor to have served as the class president and I appreciate all of the kind words from many of you over the past year. I also appreciate if there were any unkind words, you kept them to yourself.

The class will be served well by our new President, Fred Brown and Vice-President Sandy Martin. There is no “I” in class, it will take all of us to continue in the way this class has always represented itself to others.

Love y’all and see you Sunday!
Sandy

MUST Summer Grocery Bag Program

Message from Scotty Brewington:

We are gearing up for our final week of the 2020 Summer Grocery Program!

This coming Monday (8/3) will be the last day of the traditional grocery program, but we are not done yet! Beginning Monday, August 10th and running through November 9th, the program will have a new name and a new look. More details coming soon!

In the meantime, it’s business as usual!

The good news is that we have a LOT of stuff left to give out, so we really only need a handful of items this week. This is what we need:

  • Hot dogs/buns
  • Fresh produce (veggies and fruit)
  • Cheese (blocks or packages of shredded)

We are also still collecting liquid dish soap, toothpaste and hand soap.

REMEMBER: You can drop-off donations on Sunday (8/2) and Monday (8/3) from 2:00-4:00 PM. To drop off, come to the RUMC Fellowship Hall, pull up in front of the double-doors, honk your horn, and a volunteer will come get the groceries from your car. Thanks for all you do and THANK YOU for a great Summer!

Members of CUC have contributed $6,665 for the MUST summer grocery program. The total of reimbursements for the summer grocery program is $3956.

Anyone who would like to buy and deliver items from the list to the church can do so. Please keep your receipt and send or email a copy of your receipts for Charlie Mason and you will be reimbursed from the money that has been donated for the MUST Ministry.
