What Can Stand in the Way?
Again for our CUC class we have one of our favorite speakers. Scott Dickson has our lesson this coming Sunday. His title is
“What can stand in the way?”. He is using the scripture: Acts 8:36 : As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” (NIV)
CUC Sunday School Class on Zoom
Just enter that meeting ID when you start Zoom and you will be connected to the Sunday School meeting . Doug normally starts the meeting about 9:15 am on Sundays. This gives you a chance to say Hello, and then the class starts at 9:30 am sharpish!
Due to the limit of 100 participants Doug suggests that you watch the Class meeting on one device, such as your tablet, iPad, or computer so that it can be viewed by you and your significant other. This will give everyone a chance to view the class.
Scheduled Zoom meeting for CUC.
Topic: 07-12-2020 – CUC Sunday School – Zoom Meeting – w/Scott Dickson

CUC Treasury
It has been suggested that in order to maintain our CUC treasury that we send checks to our treasurer Charlie Mason for the amounts we would normally put in the collection basket on Sunday mornings.
MUST Summer Grocery Bag Program

RUMC is providing at least one $40 bag of groceries every week for needy families for ten (10) weeks for the MUST Summer Grocery food program. MUST needs us to do the shopping.
Members of CUC have contributed to our treasury for the MUST summer grocery program and have spent $3,344 from those contributions so far. Anyone who would like to buy and deliver items from the list to the church can do so. Please keep your receipt and send or email a copy of your receipts for Charlie Mason and you will be reimbursed from the money that has been donated for the MUST Ministry.
This week’s message from Scotty Brewington :
A special treat this week… eggplant, zucchini, jalapenos, corn, fresh veggies from the RUMC garden and WOW!! Wonderful watermelons!!… Fresh produce continues to be the big game-changer with this program. A HUGE hit for all involved! Thank you for all you do for this community…
Everything is needed again this week, especially cereal, spaghetti sauce, rice and tortillas. (By the way – we did a little “focus group” and asked some of the families in line this week which they preferred – white or yellow rice. Yellow rice was the clear winner! If you have a choice, make it yellow!)
As always, the more fresh produce the better – onions, bell peppers, apples, oranges, lemons/limes, potatoes – and we can always use liquid dish soap, toothpaste and hand soap.
The List: Spaghetti/pasta sauce, hot dogs/buns, rice (especially yellow!), jelly (grape), cereal, tortillas (corn or flour), block of cheese/packages of shredded cheese, mac & cheese, bags/cans of beans (bags are better),canned corn, canned tomatoes (diced, whole, sauce, etc.).
REMEMBER: We will be open for drop-offs on Sunday (7/12) and Monday (7/13) from 2:00-4:00 PM. To drop off, just come to the RUMC Fellowship Hall this Monday, pull up in front of the double-doors, honk your horn, and a volunteer will come get the groceries from your car.
Thanks for all you do!
