“But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everwhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

RUMC’s Mission Outreach
Our CUC lesson this Sunday will be brought by Marion Brown, RUMC’s Associate Pastor for Missions. When Marion was last with us there were many questions about missions.
She will be giving a Missions Overview and April Henderson, Director of Street Grace, will be with her to talk about that ministry. This will be a great opportunity to get caught up on RUMC missions. The overall scripture for the morning is Acts 1:1-11.
We are thankful for our CUC refreshments each week. This Sunday they will be provided by Martha & Bill Thompson and Ann & Don McNew
Members 86 + guests 3 = 89
The amount contributed for the MUST Ministries summer lunch program is now at $2,080.59. The CUC Endowment Fund will be providing an additional $775 for the summer lunch program.
CUC Summer WNO
Sewage problems caused a venue change at the very last minute from Olde Blind Dog to Dukes Bar and Grill which was across the street. In spite of that, 20 CUC’ers enjoyed fellowship at last week’s CUC Wednesday Night Out dinner.
CUC Potluck Picnic
CUC is having a potluck picnic on Wednesday, June 26th. We will start a sign up sheet in class this coming Sunday. Claudia Phelps will be providing further details.
MUST Summer Lunches
Donations are still being accepted for the summer lunch program. Checks may be placed in the CUC offering basket or given to Charlie Mason.
Members wishing to make donations to the summer lunch program should make out their checks to CUC and include “MUST summer lunches” on the line for notes. These checks can be placed in the collection basket any Sunday for the next month. Donations are especially needed as now by law the food must come from a health certified facility and we will not be making them.
We will still be purchasing drinks, chips, cookies, and apples.
On Wednesday, June 12th CUC will be working in the Dod filling 1,000 bags with those potato chips, juice, cookies and maybe apples.
The Thirty-Eighth Annual Roswell Patriotic Celebration Concerts are Friday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 30, at 3 p.m. Complimentary tickets will be available in the Main Office, the Worship Arts office, online at itickets.com or you may get your tickets from Sarah Beecham at CUC class on Sunday morning.
If you would like to honor or memorialize a Veteran or active duty member of the military by purchasing a flower arrangement for the Patriotic Celebration Concerts, please contact Ann Moore at email@example.com or 770.261.1719.
Vacation Bible School Help Requests
RUMC expects more than 380 children will be attending Vacation Bible School this summer. Help is needed. Snacks for volunteers would be appreciated. They can be dropped off on Sunday June 16th in the Trinity Café.
The mission emphasis will be “Venezuela Now!” You can help fill another crate for Venezuela by bringing in some of the items listed. The items needed are very specific: acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil), infant Tylenol and Advil, children’s and adult’s multi-vitamins, powdered infant formula, canned chicken, dried rice, and dried beans.
At Job Networking, Monday, June 10, dinner is at 5:30 p.m. The dinner speaker will be Debbie Goodwin. CUC has many volunteers at each Job Networking program. Perhaps you would like to join them.
Seniors Enriched Living
Seniors Enriched Living (SEL) will meet for a 6-week session on Thursdays, June 13-July 25 (no class July 4) in the Dodson Youth Center. Continuing education classes are offered in art, economics, health, history, and more. Come learn and connect with this active group! Register at selroswellga.org or call 770.587.3750.
Box Tops and Flip Tops
Keep on bringing in those accumulated box tops and flip tops for Red Bird Missions and Ronald McDonald Houses!
Other Opportunities to Support Our Missions
CUC Class members have two easy ways to support Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center in Cedartown, GA. A shopper simply sets up an account with any Publix supermarket. Then, the next time you shop there, type in your phone number while the cashier is ringing up your order. The school on that campus will automatically be credited with a percentage of your purchase.
Amazon Smile is a second way for customers to support their favorite charitable organization every time they shop with Amazon. If you choose Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center, Amazon will donate a portion of the price of eligible purchases to that Methodist facility. How-to information is available in class.
Congratulations to all those grandchildren of CUC members who are celebrating graduations!
