Peter replied: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your Sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Homestretch Road Race
Thanks to the more than 40 CUC members who volunteered or who competed in the Homestretch Run the River Road Race on April 14th or who contributed to the Congregational Challenge.
There were over 1500 runners for the biggest Homestretch road race ever. Among the winners in their age groups were our own Gale Davis, and Garlinn Story
Homestretch Congregational Challenge
The race is over and we will still be collecting checks or cash for pledges if unpaid. Checks need to be made payable to RUMC with HomeStretch Congregation Challenge on the memo line.
Thanks!

The Bereans Sunday School Class has challenged CUC to a “participation” contest for this event. So, put this date on your calendar and be prepared to sign-up via a “Clip Board Passing” in class. We don’t want to come in “Second” to the Bereans!

New Testaments for Honduras
For those that were not in class this past Sunday, Claudia Phelps has paperback New Testaments in Spanish to send down with the Honduras mission team.
Each Bible is $2.00. We had generous support this past Sunday and Claudia is ordering more. There has been a major request and appreciation for this show of love for the Word of God.
Bless you for your participation! In CUC Class there will be a bowl for dollars, and a stack of Bibles for any inscriptions you might wish to do. We heard that these Bibles and these inscriptions have had a big impact. Call Claudia Phelps with any questions 404-406-4664.
Why We Collect Box Tops
Red Bird Christian High School, a boarding high school serving mountain people from isolated communities spread over a wide distance, was founded in 1921 by the Evangelical Church. It soon united with the Brethren Church to form the Evangelical United Brethren then in 1968 united with the Methodists to become today’s United Methodist Church. Red Bird Center is a missionary conference of the UMC, one of three in the United States.
RUMC and CUC can feel a connection to this school that serves mountain people from isolated communities in southwestern Kentucky. Collecting Box Tops on hundreds of products is an easy way to help this rural school obtain classroom supplies. Some of the well-known brands are Reynolds, General Mills, Cascadian Farms, Ziploc, Annie’s, Green Giant, Progresso, Betty Crocker, Scott, Boise, Nature Valley, Hefty, Kleenex. Please cut out any Box Tops found on products you buy and bring them to CUC. They will be forwarded to the school in Beverly, KY.
Little Things Mean a Lot!
Please remember to keep collecting and bring to Sunday School your flip tops from cans for Ronald McDonald Houses and your box tops and labels for Redbird Missions.
Prayer Requests
- Roger Davis – having back surgery for relief of pain this coming Wednesday, April 25
- Pastor Andrew Bronson, wrongly imprisoned and on trial this week in Turkey, his wife and family, and for Terry and Wanda Taylor’s son Kent who is Andrew’s partner in ministry in Turkey.
An Update from Terry Taylor:
The first day of Pastor Brunson’s trial on Monday was filled with secret witnesses for the prosecution. Their testimony was broadcast into the courtroom via video with their voices and appearances altered. In the USA such devious tactics would have been thrown out of court. But not in Turkey!
Then at the conclusion of a grueling, nearly 13-hour-long day trial, the judge refused to release Pastor Andrew Bronson , But worse, he ordered Pastor Bronson be thrown back into the first prison he had been in – a notoriously overcrowded and grim prison. Then the Turkish court delayed the trial until May 7th.
Pastor Andrew Bronson is innocent. He’s on trial for “Christianization” – for his faith.
Please continue to pray for him and his family.
Ongoing Prayer Requests
- Mary Serafina asks that we continue to pray for her daughter Pam Pruit as she battles cancer. Pam feels your prayers and feels God’s hand on her life.
