The speaker this Sunday is our   own  Paul Beecham.  His topic is “One Man’s Journey with the Lord” [AUDIO]. We  always  get  a great  deal  to  think  about  from  Paul’s  messages.

CUC’s  Summer Lunch Program for MUST Ministries

Report  from  Charlie  Mason, CUC Class Treasurer

Approximately 2700 lunches were provided by the CUC Class for the MUST Ministries summer lunch program.  We had planned to provide 3200 lunches; but there was a reduced need during the last week of the program.  The surplus of $1252.01 will be set aside for the 2018 summer lunch program.

Income:                                $4352.00 Contributions from class members
Expenses:  Sam’s Club    $2760.92 Food  (Bread, Meat,  Juice, Fruit)
Dollar Tree:                         $330.92 Food  (Cookies)
Home Depot:                     $8.15 Packing Materials

Total:                                   $3099.99


Murphy  Harpst Gifts from CUC

On Friday, August 11, Pam Kramer from Murphy-Harpst and her daughter stopped at Dave and Norma Hills’  house and loaded up their car with all the books, stuffed animals and games CUC donated. Larry and Betty Hunt also assisted. Pam was very grateful and thanked all who donated.


Prayer Requests

  • Lynn Adcock as she had another course of  chemo  this  past week.

  • Betty Gay as she  recovers from  a broken hip.  The Gays are now at Cottonwood Retirement Community, 255 Vaughan Drive, Apt. 226, Alpharetta, GA 30009

  • Carolyn  Batterson – for a good recovery  following successful placement  of  aortic  stent and a fall.

  • Laverne Lamb – for regaining  strength  after  completing  a course  of  IV  antibiotics

  • Terry Taylor – for a good recovery after his surgery. Terry returned home from the  hospital on  Thursday.

  • Judy & Dal Zierk – on the passing of Judy’s mother. A Celebration of Life service in the Chapel at Roswell United Methodist Church will be held in late September.

  • MariAnna Brown‘s brother for a good recovery following a liver transplant

  • Sue Gardener asks for prayers for her brother Dave Dowling following bone marrow transplant  He has developed an infection that is being treated with antibiotics.

  • Frank Magaro – at Hearthstone Assisted Living in Roswell.

 Please pray for needs expressed and unexpressed for friends and relatives of CUC class members who are facing illnesses, loss of loved ones, and important decisions  to  be  made.


Multiply

Be inspired to serve like Jesus in our church and community. As Linda King  announced  in  CUC  Class , you are invited to this “Multiply” event this Saturday, August 26, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm in the chapel for  breakfast  and  lunch and a time of worship with Tom Davis, author  Jo  Saxton, Tom Alterman, and the  Chapel Roswell Band. New Adult Bible Studies and Classes

As a church, we are called to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Child  Development Center Also Celebrates Malone  Dodson

Malone  Dodson’s 80th  birthday is  also  being  celebrated with a benefit for Roswell’s  Child  Development Center. This  will be  an event on Sunday,  September 17th, at  the  home  of Mayor Jere & Claudia  Wood, 10850 Stroup Road, (fish  fry, beer, wine, and dancing.  $80/person.

Please continue collecting the Boxtops labels found on many products.  Labels for Education are not printed on as many grocery items any more, but they will be accepted at Red Bird School until the end of 2017.
