Request from Pastor Parish Relations Committee

Dear CUC,
With the announcement last Sunday that Dr. Mike Long will leave RUMC in June to become a District Superintendent, the work has begun to find our new Senior Minister.

The Pastor Parish Relations Committee is seeking input from parishioners on the qualities they would like to see in our new minister. I would like to take your ideas forward to the committee as soon as possible. If you have opinions on the subject, please email me at your earliest convenience. All thoughts are welcome.

Thanks! Kris Taylor

Have you left behind or lost anything at a CUC event or on Sunday morning? Thanks to Martha Thompson we now have a CUC “Lost and Found” collection place in our CUC closet.

February 5 is the CUC Super Bowl Party! Over 40 CUC members have signed up so far for the party at the Diner at North Point beginning at 5:30. Heavy hors’deurves and non- alcoholic beverages will be served. Other drinks may be purchased.

This Sunday is the final date to sign up and to pay. Please bring $20 per person check or cash. If check, please make it to CUC and put “party” on the memo line. If unable to sign up and pay this Sunday please contact Mike and Garlinn Story.

The Right Order of Things

Jim McCormick’s new book, The Right Order of Things, has arrived and will again be available at CUC on Sunday! We still have a few copies left. Get them on Sunday morning in CUC.

It’s a great summary of Jim’s thoughts on Christian beliefs in our modern world presented in a simple way that all of us can understand.

The cost is $15 per book. Thanks to Jim, a $7 donation will be made to the RUMC Foundation for every book sold at RUMC. Make checks payable to the RUMC Foundation. If you didn’t sign up to receive a copy earlier there’s no problem. We have plenty available and Jim has personally signed every copy!

Murphy Harpst Birthday Party

Betty Hunt announced that CUC will be hosting a birthday party at Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center on Saturday, February 18. Only a small number of people need to go. More information on needs for the party will be forthcoming. Murphy Harpst has thanked CUC for our contributions and sent pictures of the new bedrooms that CUC’s donations have furnished.

Foster Care Support Foundation Prom-A-Palooza 2017

This is a wonderful event on Sunday, February 19, where girls in foster care can come to choose everything they need to go to their proms. Rachel Ewald can use between 4 or 5 volunteers from CUC if anyone is interested in volunteering for the day, 9 am to 5 pm, please email rachel@fostercare.org and she will send the registration form for the volunteers for that date.

Unfortunately, they can’t take split shifts due to the nature of the event but they will have plenty of food for volunteers to eat. You can go to the Foster Care website to read all about the event. Volunteering there is a great experience!
