CUC Response to the Louisiana Floods

The CUC Mission/Outreach Committee would invite you to participate in a rare opportunity in response to the Louisiana floods. It is rare because we can help immediately and know that within forty-eight hours, you can feed the hungry, supply water to the thirsty, provide shelter for the homeless, provide clothing to those who have nothing, and help the sick. You remember what it means to give to the “least of these”. And, the second part of rare is that we know that whatever we send will be hand delivered to the right people in the right place!
So, here’s the deal—we have three choices: We can send money or Wal-Mart gift cards. We can send homemade love with cake, cookies, or something special. And we can send cards or notes of Christian love and encouragement. (We are really good with all three of those options.)
Betsy Cox (Jim and Linda Boswell’s daughter) will be with us on Sunday to receive your gifts on behalf of victims of the floods. She will hand deliver them on Tuesday, August 23, along with gifts from her church, Christ UMC in Jackson, MS.
Staci Graham, RUMC Missions Specialist, will be meeting with Betsy to learn of ways for RUMC to join in the recovery efforts.
Just giving you a “heads up” so you will be ready to help when we gather this Sunday, August 21.
These floods have occurred in the exact area where where a number of CUC members worked after Katrina at the Sager-Brown Depot.
