The Hope That Lies Within You
This Sunday Dave Mueller will continue his 2-week study with us entitled “The Hope That Lies Within You”. Dave, a member of Crosstalk Sunday School Class, is an excellent teacher and has taught our class previously. We are glad to have him back.

CUC 2016 Fall Retreat
Bill Scott announced the 2016 CUC Retreat this past Sunday. The retreat will be – October 18,19, and 20th at Kingwood Country Club and Resort in Clayton, GA.
Our speaker will be Phil Schroder with the theme of “Finding Joy in Unexpected Places”.
Already 41 have signed up! We can expect that number to grow, so we can look forward to a well-attended and uplifting event.
The total price for 2 nights’ lodging, 2 breakfasts, and a dinner will be $285 per couple, ($125 per person for double occupancy payable to Kingwood Country Club). To reserve your room call the Kingwood Resort at 706-212-4100 as soon as possible and identify yourself as being a member of “CUC Sunday School Class” and make sure the dates they give you are correct; Oct 18-20.
Give Bill Scott a check for $35 made out to Bill Scott. (If you are going to give him cash, please put it in an envelope with your name on it.)

Wednesday Night Out Dinners
We had 38 CUC class members out to dinner at Brookwood Grill this past Wednesday evening. Much appreciation goes to Pat & Grady Phillips, and Ann & Larry Douglas for arranging our CUC Wednesday night dinners this summer. They have done a great job choosing and arranging our dinners at various local restaurants. RUMC WNO Dinners resume Wednesday August 17th.
RUMC Job Networking Extravaganza Garage Sale
What a week at the Garage Sale! Lots of CUC volunteers! Thanks to all who helped. Final count (thanks to dedicated supporters who rounded $ up Monday at Job Networking) was $40,000 ! We made close to $3,000 in the clothing room alone!
Red Bird Mission School
Good news! This week to benefit Red Bird Mission School, part of a United Methodist settlement in Appalachia, CUC is sending 207 Box Tops for Education and 115 Labels for Education. These coupons, found on containers of many common household items, help the school with its needs. Thank you for continuing to clip the coupons when you find them and bringing them to class.
Opportunity to hear Jim McCormick
Jim McCormick, long time CUC friend and leader of our 2014 retreat at Amicalola Falls, will be speaking at the Cumming First UMC on Wednesday, August 24.
His topic will be “The Gospel Goes to Broadway”. That’s a topic we have heard before, but anytime Jim speaks is an opportunity you don’t want to pass up.
Jim’s program will start at 7:00. We may be taking a church van leaving RUMC at 4:30, early enough to have dinner at Cumming’ UMC’s WNO supper. Contact Tom Knight if you are interested in going.
19th Annual Malone Dodson Golf Tournament
It’s almost time for the Malone Dodson Golf Tournament, Monday, October 10, at the Woodmont Golf & Country Club, Canton. This is the main fundraiser to support the RUMC Foundation. There is an exclusive discount for RUMC members. Individual RUMC players will save $25 off the $200 registration fee. An RUMC foursome will save $200 off the $800 registration fee (or each player will pay $150). Register by August 15 and enjoy an individual player or foursome discount.
